Wimbledon

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was established in 1868, originally as just a croquet club. Tennis was added in 1875. The Wimbledon Championships started at the club in 1877. This began as a small club activity but quickly expanded to become an international event which now attracts almost half a million attendees each year.
